Yamada Sensei will be returning to edinburgh, scotland for the 3rd time to give a seminar on the 14/15th October 2006. The seminar will be held at Meadowbank Sports Centres, Edinburgh. Details can be found on the website. The seminar runs from 10am-5pm on the Saturday and from 10-12.30pm on the Sunday. Please bring weapons and valid insurance. Contact details on the website for further information.

The Aikido Bridge Un Pont Friendship Seminar is a week long camp held at Jiai Aikido in beautiful San Diego, California from January 13th to 19th, 2007. Join us for some warm winter training with our four main instructors: Ikeda shihan, Tissier shihan, Doran shihan, and Murashige shihan. The seminar will also feature five guest instructors: McGouirk, Takahashi, Matsuoka, Phong, and Sukuki senseis. Tuesday is a day off with many great San Diego attractions or some extra training.
This international event is a great opportunity to make friends and train under an international mix of fantastic instructors from many different organizations and styles. Register soon, space is limited!

Entry: Resuming practice in a new environment

After a journey of several thousand kilometers, I now have to resume my aikido practice in a new environment.
There's no dojo in the immediate vicinity affiliated with my old organization (Aikikai). The club at my workplace is affiliated with an organization with ties to one of the uchideshi of O-Sensei who is now independent.
I've been to practice at the club and I must say, I didn't take long to adapt.The idiosyncracies of my old style (which I am quite attached to and would like to develop some more) I will have to work on my own.
I left my bokken and jo back in the Philippines, so I guess I'll have to find replacements. |
